Counseling

The ACLD Tillotson school has two licensed professional counselors on staff.  The counselors ensure that the academic, social, and emotional developmental needs of all students are met through individual and group counseling.  In addition, our counselors also collaborate with staff, families, outside agencies, and crisis intervention teams to support the needs of our students.  The counselors provide interventions to support students throughout the school day to create an environment for growth and success.

In addition to these services, the counselors work hand in hand with the ACLD Tillotson School licensed social worker and behavioral health therapist to advocate, collaborate and coordinate with the school to meet the needs of the whole child.

Our counselors take an eclectic approach when providing services to our students so that each student has an individualized approach.  The counselors often utilize techniques rooted in Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Solution-Focused approaches.  Mindfulness practices, self-rating scales, and role plays, are just a few of the therapeutic practices that are used in working with our students throughout the counseling process.  The counselors make sure to collaborate with the students to set goals and support them through their counseling journey.
