C.H.A.M.P.S.

Through evidence-based positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS), we have implemented C.H.A.M.P.S.  This program helps our students learn socially appropriate behaviors in our school: classroom, hallways, the lunchroom, arrival and dismissal, and the bathroom.

Homeroom Tiger Stripes 2.0

Tigers Stripes

The Tiger Stripes is an additional incentive for each homeroom to earn a collective reward.  At the end of each week, the homeroom that earns the most Tiger’s Den tickets (by percentage), will earn a homeroom Tiger Stripe to be displayed on the homeroom’s tiger head. When a homeroom has earned all four of the stripes, the homeroom will vote to have a breakfast or lunch celebration together.

New in 2019-2020 School Year

Homerooms will be divided into a high school group and a middle/elementary group.  Now, two stripes (one high school, one middle/elementary) will be given out each week!

 Tigers Den

The Tiger’s Den is a positive approach to “catching” students doing good things throughout the school day!  Research has shown that when students are praised for good behavior, other students witnessing the accolades are motivated to receive the same positive reinforcement.  This reinforcement program is modeled after the Principal’s 200 program.

We want our students to succeed and we want them to see that we recognize the great things they do in our school every day! This year we are continuing to implement the Tiger’s Den and Tiger Tickets.  We will recognize 5 students each day for positive behavior.  Five random staff members will be given one Tiger Ticket each day.  Without the students knowing who has a ticket, the staff person is expected to be on the lookout for positive behaviors throughout the day.  When a staff member sees a positive behavior, he or she will give the ticket to the student and the student will sign his or her name it.

At the end of each school day an announcement will be made for “Ticket Time” when each student who has received a ticket will come to the Tiger’s Den to do the following:

1. Pick out a ticket number for the board

2. Place his or her ticket on the board

3Take the other half of the ticket to show someone at home!

For each round of the Tiger’s Den, an administrator will choose a “Mystery Motivator” that the students will win.  On the 10 x 10 one-hundred square grid, the students will put their cards each day based on the ticket number they pull during “Ticket Time.”  Once a row, column, or diagonal of ten has been completed, the ten students whose names are in that winning row, column, or diagonal will all win the “Mystery Motivator.”  This motivator will be a special treat, activity, item, or motivational opportunity for those ten students (and sometimes a friend)!

We appreciate your help and support as we implement this program!

We are looking forward to seeing all the great things our students will accomplish this year!
