Calming Corner

The Calming Corner is a space designed to help our students decompress.  It is an alternative space to a classroom that offers a therapeutic atmosphere complete with comfortable seating, bean bags, pillows, differential lighting, etc. Whether students are stressed out before a test or overwhelmed with life in general, this space offers a place to provide support or simply catch your breath.  The Calming Corner is available at select times for students to use once per week; however, individual and group therapy is conducted in this space as well.  Our students can choose from a variety of activities to include but not limited to: painting, drawing, listening to or creating music, time with Poppy, use of sensory items, support/socialization with peers, and group discussion.  Taking time for mental health can improve the academic and school experience as a whole.  The goal of the Calming Corner is to provide students the time and space to check-in with their mental health in order to achieve their fullest potential.
